Just a friendly seasonal reminder...you don't want to spend Christmas Eve as I did last year.
What happened last year, you ask? Well...I baked cookies the morning of Christmas Eve. And, as I always do, I ate cookie dough! Who doesn't!
At this point I want you to think "food poisoning"!
That night we had a raging blizzard. Wind and snow howled through our area. We couldn't have gotten out on the road in any kind of emergency. And I was lying awake deep into the night with a nauseous pain in my tummy...thanks to eating cookie dough. I envisioned all kinds of horrible scenarios on this Christmas Eve...one of them being a trip to the emergency room a mere two blocks away in a snow plow. You can read about that evening here.
So! No more cookie dough for me! And I advise the same for you.
I wonder if the chocolate companies make a cookie dough truffle! I betcha!!!

I remember you talking about this, and actually after the egg recall this summer, have been militant about us not eating raw baking stuff anymore.
Sigh...a former simple pleasure now. But fortunately, oatmeal cookie dough doesn't call for eggs. :)
Merry Christmas sweet one!
Unfortunately this is one of those lessons that some folks just have to learn on their own. I still take the occasional taste, but will definitely think twice after this reminder!
My daughter makes a mean cookie dough truffle herself. Its a luscious treat. Maybe I should get the recipe and post it...
Thanks for the reminder. I ate too much Christmas cookie dough once as a kid and got sick from it, so it lost its appeal for me, and that was a long time ago! I still like choc chip cookie dough though unfortunately. I do try not to eat it, but must admit I still sample it.
I have fond memories of eating cookie dough as a child and when my boys were growing up. But I guess it isn't worth the risk any more.
Great reminder!
We used to be able to eat raw everything, except pork. I still remember, as does everyone in my family, the joy of a lightly salted (or not) wad of raw ground beef....Remember that? Steak tartar, they called it. Topped it with a raw egg. (I'd have none of THAT though.)
I still risk the cooking dough, in small portions. Always have. Can't you get immune to salmonella eventually? I like to dream it's so.
I love to eat raw chocolate chip cookie dough. Can't put the spoon down. So far so good, but maybe I'll need to back off from now on. THAT will be difficult for me...
Doesn't sound like a fun way to spend the holidays ... thanks for the reminder.
