They Wanted Her Dead. But She Lives.

Nearly twenty years ago Hubby and I sat at table in a large conference room in the City. We listened attentively as Gianna Jessen related to us her journey...a journey that began with herself being the product of a saline abortion. In spite of the attempt to abort her, Gianna was born live.

It is possible that some of my readers may have aborted a child themselves. I risk stepping on toes, but I do not want you to see this post as a condemnation. God knows, we have all sinned in one way or another, and most of us have sins of our own that we do not reveal, sins that we hate.

So on this Sunday, this day when many are standing on streets, speaking out for Life...take just a few moments to listen to Gianna as she speaks of abortion from her perspective as "one of the aborted".

We Should Be Teaching the LAW!

Sometimes I wonder what is wrong with the thinking ability of people such as the 24-year-old female teacher who was arrested at a West Virginia motel for kidnapping a 15-year-old boy (8th grader) with whom she had been having a relationship. This scenario is becoming common-place and you would think that watching teacher after teacher go to prison for similar relationships would cause any teacher to recognize this is a serious No-No!

I wonder what is wrong with the thinking of a young father whose 4-month-old daughter died of injuries inflicted at his hands. I'm talking broken ribs. Again...there are enough of these cases in the news that one would think people would get the message! You hurt a baby and you go to prison!

It would seem to me that there should be mandatory classes in college for prospective teachers that explicitly lay out the criminality and ramifications of adult teachers having an inappropriate relationship with a teen. Classes that emphasize potential long imprisonment! Case histories, if you please!

And there should be mandatory classes in high school that teach the fragility of infants, the appropriate ways to hold and care for them, and the civil penalties (again....long prison terms) for those who inflict bodily harm to babies and small children.

And while we're at it, how about classes that explicitly lay out the penalty for inappropriate sexual contact with children/underage teens. Classes to include a clear look at LAWS on the books.

I am astounded.

Let Us Reason Together

Whether you love or hate President George Bush, take a moment to read his proclamation of January 15, 2009. And when you read, do so with an open mind, regardless of your past perceptions on the subject. Read every word and take in every thought.

It would seem to me, that while we agonize as a nation over the lives of our brave young men and women in Iraq, Afghanistan, anywhere in the world, we fail to agonize over the 1.3 million infants lost each year in America to abortion. (That figure may be a bit under, for I took it from WikiAnswers which is not exactly the most accurate source of info on the net. But I'm typing this quickly and you can do more research yourself on the numbers if you wish.)

Recent generations of Americans have been brain-washed into the falsity of individualism and into the idea that morality is relevant only to their own situation. To them there is no black and white, no right and wrong, except as they individually assess and evaluate. When they read the portion of the Declaration of Independence that reads, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness", that it is THEY who have the right to happiness. If an abortion will produce "happiness" then abortion becomes acceptable and their arguments for it are multiple in their self-duplicity.

Life is life. Death is death. Nobody has the right to take life without severe provocation such as in self-defense or a just war or a civil penalty for the most abhorrent of crimes. Those instances of taking life don't even begin to compare with slicing and dicing an unborn child to "improve" the quality of life for Self.

There are multiple instances in the Old Testament where God took his protection away from His people for placing their children on the alter of false Gods. Our alter is "Self" and we worship self rather than God. This nation will be judged for its idolatry, for placing self before obedience to God is indeed idolatry.

And Dear Reader, if it is you who have had an abortion, recognize that forgiveness is something God offers to all those who come to Him. 1 John 1:9 Romans 8:1

Claims to Fame

The older one gets the more life allows them to have certain claims to fame. I was thinking today....

I once worked for THE Howard Hughes. (Never actually saw the man.)

I once toured the locker room of the Denver Broncos. (None of the Broncos were present.)

I once almost got taken up by a tornado. (That was at an outdoor theater showing 'The Valley of the Dolls' and that should date me pretty well.)

I've twice had a quilt exhibited at one of the biggest annual quilt shows in America. (I didn't win any prizes.)

And I once took a beating that at the time I thought would kill me. Throughout the beating I kept screaming "He's killing me! He's killing me!" Thank God, he didn't. That was 30 years ago and he is dead and I am not.

That last one came to mind today as I visited a friend in the intensive care unit. Early last evening she was the victim of a serious stabbing (several knife wounds). She survived. Oh, my friend, my friend! My mind reels at the depth of your wounds --- those wounds that the knife will have inflicted on your mind, not your body. I pray that God returns you to full health and that he gives you great courage to overcome those wounds, both the physical and the mental/spiritual. God bless you. God bless you.
