Those of us in the cancer world are well aware that chemo (depending on the drugs used) causes complete loss of hair. I spent much of last summer wearing scarves and caps to cover my bald pate. The first week of September (some two months after the last chemo session) I began sporting fine, fuzzy, puppy fur. By Thanksgiving I could claim "real hair".
Now, five months later, I'm sporting the curliest 'do I've ever worn. Not even the Tonette perms of my childhood can compare to this. This is Real Chemo Curl!
Funny thing...a month ago I had a hairdresser in the mall give me a quick shave of the neckline and a slight trim of the sideburns. She commented, "You have a lovely perm!"
And funny thing...this past week a friend, whom I had not seen in considerable time, commented on how nice my hair looked. I could tell by the way she spoke that she thought I was wearing a wig. She was surprised when I informed her, "Yep, Chemo Curl!"
And funny thing! My sideburns are as straight as can be.
For those of you nearing the end of your chemo treatment...There are Curls At the End of the Tunnel! Just thought I'd give you a curly heads-up!
Today's message is brought to you by the Chemo Curl Gurl.

I think your hair looks fabulous. Funny, blessings come in the weirdest places, eh?!!
And doubly nice that you can encourage others. An added perk.
wow!! your hair looks gorgeous! Handily, I have always had curly hair - lucky for me it didn't go straight ;o)
Looks super
xx
I have chemo curls too! And I've always had straight hair. Prior to cancer, I would spend tons of money on hair color and the proper cut. Post-chemo, I've let it all go. I go to a "Supercuts" once every 8 weeks and I've let go of coloring. I figured, I earned my curls and my peppered hair. :-) Cheers to your chemo curls! cxx
Just lovely! The curls look great!
I've heard lots of stories of hair coming back curly. Funny thing, I had curly hair to begin with, and I'd hoped for the opposite -that it would actually come back a little more straight. Not so! It's just as curly as before!
But I'll take it! Any which way, is just fine by me!
Hurrah for the curl gurl!
My sister in law just recently finished chemo treatments
Everyone has told her how great she looks in her wigs I thinks going to keep on wearing them.

Yep, beautiful! A nice reward for your pains...though I doubt you consider it an even trade.

G'day, my friend ~ I love your new do. What a gem of life you are to others going thru the same.
A friend of ours had straight hair, like a stick, & after at ae 30 surviving chemo her hair is beautiful soft & wavy.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs, TTFN ~ Marydon
You know, I've been thinking about it. Chemo Curl Gurl sounds like a super hero. I think it should go like this. "Faster than a dose of benedryl. More powerful than chemo. Able to kick cancer's butt with a single boot. Look up in the sky. It's a angel. It's a star. No it's Chemo Curl Gurl!
Those are lovely curls ...
